What is a wedge wire filter?

The wedge wire filter is made of V -shaped profile wire wrapped and welded on the support wire to form a continuous wedge shaped gap. The smoothly face is the filtration face , the gap is in the form of strip.all the particles stops on the surface of the filter.

 profile wire: usually the material of it is stainless steel (304、316、316L )or other

corrosion resistance alloy,the cross section is V shape or trapezoid shape that will make sure the filtration gap is equally distributed

Support bar: usually ti is round or polygon type, provide support structure.

End seal:  use welding or flange connection to make sure the sealing and the strength of the filter.

Working Principle of Wedge Wire Filter

For the wedge wire filter , it is surface filtration, which means when liquid or gas flow through the filters, the solid particles will be stopped on the surface of the filter, the clean liquid or gas will flow from the inside.Because of the wedge wire is V shaped, then the particles are less likely to get stuck in the gaps , and it is easy to clean by back wash, and then cause of that extending the service life of the filter.

2.Maintance

  • Regular Backwashing : use water or gas with a pressure of 0.2-0.3Mpa for backwashing

  • Chemical cleaning:  for the oil spill and organic substances the Acid-base cleaner will be better.

  • Wear and tear checking: after long time working, check the wedge wire tube if there is any clogging or deformation of the wires.
